Pippi and her friends try to get Pippi to learn at school, but that does not work. I recommend that you read Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren. You will like this book because it is funny too. I like this book because it is funny. The genre is fiction. This book is about a nine year old girl and her two friends Tommy and Anika.
I like this book because it has a great ending. Her mom died when she was little. Her dad was a sailor and he went overboard.
The author's name is Astrid Lindged illustrated by Nancy Seligsohn. She had no mom or dad to live with her. I am reading Pippi Longstocking.
She lived with her monkey and horse. Read all about Pippi's adventures. There is a girl named Pippi Longstocking.
She was nine years old, had freckles, and long braids that curl up.
My teacher says she's just like me because I'm really weird too. Pippi Longstocking is really weird. Pippi Longstocking is a very good book. It is very funny.
Sometimes, Pippi seems silly, and sometimes ordinary folk do. My 5 year old girl in 2008 enjoyed the book, perhaps as much as her grandmother, who heard the tale in the 1940s. Astrid Lindgren's classic story is still fun to read after all these years. Either way, the result is often funny. I thought it was just all right, but the ongoing pleasure of little kids seems to keep this story alive. At times the themes are a bit dated and hokey, but for the most part Pippi is a fun tale. Pippi is a funny character: her naivite and earnestness (plus her super strength) offer constant contrasts and commentary on "normal" society.
The narrator of the audiobook does a decent job but is not as lively as other narrators I have heard and unfortunately grossly mispronounces the name of one of the three main characters (which, given the number of times she is mentioned, becomes galling). The story is good but perhaps a bit boring for children under 7 or 8 years of age.
